  • "Live" Interview with Me

Things to consider when you are thinking of recording a video of yourself talking:

#1 - Run through what you are going to say first, so you don't get to the end and think you have talked for 4 minutes and instead it is 14 freakin' minutes!!

#2 - Consider the fact that while you remembered to put something "blank" on the computer screen you were sitting in front of, the screen saver will come on after about 2 minutes and continuously flash pictures over your right shoulder for the rest of the interview.  Distracting??  Um, yeah!

#3 - WHY, oh why, does your hair look much longer on the one side than the other?  This is really perturbing, because for real, I have never noticed this about myself.

#4 - Inform your children that you are going to be doing the recording, instead of assuming that nothing will distract them from the TV.  Otherwise, your daughter may be yelling at you from the top of the steps to "GO TO THE VAN AND GET HER NAIL POLISH!"

#5 - Do not try to snort.laugh on purpose. You will look like a complete idiot!

And, HERE it is...for your viewing "pleasure."

  • Love this Audrey. The pictures in the background are actually pretty neat to see while you're talking!! I am thinking of doing a list too because I'm also reading Ann Voskamp's book!  I want to read that Heaven book also! I'm going to see if I can get it through the library. (trying to get more from the library and stop purchasing SO many books!) love your daughter yelling in the background because that is so typical of a house where children live.  I've never recorded myself like that. . hmmmm. . . I'll have to see if I can do it one of these days.

  • oh my goodness audrey. that was wonderful. i watched the whole thing. i loved seeing you and hearing you talk...i also came to wish that you lived closer and we could hang out...thanks for sharing this. what a great idea!!i went and looked up those sermons you were talking about as well as looking up Crystal bowersox's song. from what i can get out of the uncensored lyrics that she's talking about her father in the past being abusive or someone in the past and how she's free of them now. but that's just what i'm taking out iof it...i also downloaded that tenth ave north song cause i need some good songs to encourage me. thanks for sharing. LOVE this!!

  • Cool. :) That was fun to watch. So were the pictures in the background.I just kept trying to keep up with your accent.  that was very fun to hear you talk and I was desperately trying to see the "walk". lol Good stuff.

  • okay. i watched it all. on the hair- i love, love, love blonde on you. stick with it. even if you are not having more fun. the length difference? i think it is simply how you have styled it...it is flipped in on your right side and out on your left. but it looks cute. i have to wonder how we are friends. you are making this video at 8 am on a saturday morning. really. i am ROCKING my day, if my teeth are brushed before 8 am on saturday.lots more i could comment on, but my kids are fighting.oh, and i love how real God is to you and how excited you are about Him.

  • This was really fun!  I loved learning about you   Snorting and all ba ha ha ha - glad you don't know how to edit.  Tenth Avenue North Rocks!!  I seen them in concert last summer and it was awesome.  They were my band of the year for 2010 and I swear they stole my diary to write their album.  Think this would be fun to do but I dislike my voice very much on video.  I always watch and say I don't really sound like that. You sound like such a fun person and I wish we could join a book club together.  Check out http://www.lyricinterpretations.com/Crystal-Bowersox/Farmers-Daughter    yeah there is website for that even

  • So nice to "meet" you via video.  Neat to hear your voice and learn more about you.  Love the "uncensored" nature of it...your daughter calling, the pictures on the computer, etc.  Ann Voscamps book is wonderful.  It definately is a re-read!!  Great stuff.

  • Nice. Very nice. :)

  • i don't know where to start. I watched the whoooole thing, and I think hubs secretly did too, while playing w/ abbi. He kept wondering why you did a video. I must say, you talk very well on camera. I hate myself videoed, i blink my eyes alot, and use way too many hand gestures, and I HATE the sound of my voice. Hence, i admire your bravery This was fun to watch, enjoyed it much, and learned things too

  • i did the whole thang. even with it pausing * i kid you not* every 30 secs with a glitch or something. which means that i didn't quite catch every word. the snorting and hair are great. love both. :) and hearing your voice? happy sigh. was that just 3 weeks ago?! (miss you) that heaven is for real book has just become more for real-er recently...love  hearing what He is sharing with you, and that you included us.

  • Fun, fun, Audrey.  I liked it especially because I haven't really heard you talk much since you were maybe about 17 or something.  And you've grown up a little since then. :)  You were very collected, I must say.  I hate to see and hear myself on video, so I won't be doing that anytime soon.  You are always bold and brave.Really with you on not getting much done on days I don't HAVE to do much.  I think I need your 2002 Things for Kids to Do (or whatever it was called.  I am not creative that way since I am a mom.  I was when I taught school.  That is what I can't figure out.)  And I wish you could declutter my house and I could spring clean yours...tho it probably doesn't need it.  Give me some dirt and I'm fine.  It's the never-ending clutter that gets me down. This was so interesting.

  • watched every second of it, and definitely still want to be your friend.i love the way you express yourself, and just hearing your voice made me wish there would be more occasion for that in real life.i was enjoying all the pictures on the computer behind you...the little slideshow was quite entertaining! ;O)if blondes have more fun? don't know from experience, but i say the color looks good on you!happy week to you, and thanks for sharing from your world!♥

  • That was fun! :) Always so much much fun to "see and hear" someone in real life compared to "reading" them all the time. :) You have a different accent then I imagined tho, kind of the same as Kay. Must be a WI thing. :)

  • I loved getting to "meet" and see you in "real" life!  I find it fun to see what blogging people really act and talk like :)   BTW love you hair!  Looks so cute!

  • You are adorable! I love your smile! And your hair is adorable too. : )

  • That was so great! I did watch the whole thing and the whole time I was wondering if you had changed your hair color again! So thanks for clarifying that! I thought it was mostly my kids that don't hear me give them 2 orders at once ...Reegan is the worst ... and the louder my voice gets ... the worse it is!I love your top ... I wish I could have seen the earings better. That kitchen buddy idea is very smart! I have a terrible time getting any of mine in there ... ecspecially when it comes to setting & clearing! I have read SO many blogs of people recomending Ann Voscamps book ... I guess I should read it some time! =) So when is the next video blog?!

  • Oh my goodness, I loved this!! Felt like I actually met you in person! And goodness, you are adorable!! :) I love your laugh, and how you laugh so easily. I've always loved when people can laugh a lot! And all your books that you're reading, yep, I can identify. I always have at least 5 that I'm reading all at once. The little slideshow was fun to watch behind you too, and the little voices I heard behind the door. :) Oh, and I just looooove dangly earrings! And I was a.m.a.z.e.d. that this was at 8am on a SATURDAY morning. I mean, wow, if I even get up by 8 on a Saturday, I'm lucky if I'm out of my coke-bottle glasses and in my contacts, much less look like a fashion model like you!! :) And despite you saying you were nervous, I think you did an incredible job in front of the camera! Loved this! And yes, I still want to be your friend. :)

  • loved it, audrey! i watched it all.. but gotta say the main thing that stood out to me was how pretty you are!! superficial, i know. but there ya have it... ;)

  • i have the biggest smile on my face that just wont go away. i had a long day with my ONE sick child, and then i watched this video and wondered how you are so efficient with THREE kids.  Now that is something i need to figure out, like you say. I watched the entire video, loved it, was very very inspired by you, loved how real you still were (even to let us in on the secret that you were wearing sweatpants on your lower half - hehe) and hope you do another one.

  • I made it to the end. : )  Loved the idea about bringing one child into the kitchen to be the helper for the week...that's a great idea.  And the blondes having more fun made me giggle...(I didn't notice that either when I went blonde)...and yes...I absolutely want to still be friends...I felt so sad for you at the beginning I could see your chest rising and falling so fast you looked terrified, but then you relaxed.  KUDDOS to your for doing it....I don't think I could.   It is fun hearing the voice behind the typed words though, I have other friends from here that we call each other, and it's cool hearing the voice, but never really knowing what to expect that first time. Thanks for sharing "more" of you...even though you didn't show the sweat pants.

  • @grace2be - I agree...photos a just a second captured in time, being AS beautiful on video, in real life isn't always the case...but Audrey sure is!
