  • Questions I have…

If you are behind a guy in line at DQ and you think you might see a small tick on the left side of his neck, and you are trying to decide if it is in your place to say something or not, would it make it more or less awkward when you realized that you know the guy?

Am I the only one who gets confused when watching an exercise video on TV or the computer because the people you are following on the screen are turned the opposite way you are?  And then you can’t figure out which leg you are supposed to be putting up or down at what time.  Because is it MY left or THEIR left??  Help!

If you saw what appeared to be a Dad and his approx. 11 year old daughter holding hands when they walked into Wal-Mart, would you find that odd?  What if later you saw them in the health and beauty section and he was massaging her shoulders while she looked at hair products?

Have you ever had the “Waddle, Waddle” part of “The Duck Song” stuck in your head and kept on singing it to your kids, even though you knew it was quite annoying?  But you just couldn’t stop!

Have you ever wondered why those great everyday Moments I have been blogging about never go something like this “So, there I was.  One kid was screaming cuz her brother hit her and another was asking for lemonade while the third was loudly making excuses for the hitting?”  I know that they say we should slow down and enjoy the Moments, but I stand by the fact that some Moments are better enjoyed when they are rushed through.

Have you ever thought about who might have won the book give-a-way from yesterday?  Well, I’ll tell you right now.  It was fredsyankeegal!  Congrats to you! (Could you please message me your address so I can get the book out to you?) And just so you know how lucky you are Thelma of fruitloops115, you were actually the first winner, but since you had already won, I selected another random number!

                                                 **********************************************

    My everyday “Moment”:

Today I was on the phone with tech support at Best Buy, trying to get the internet connection to work on one of our computers.  Fun stuff!

I had told Nikki that she needed to find something to do, because I was going to be on the phone for a while.  At first she was bugging me and then it vaguely crossed my mind that I hadn’t seen or heard from her in a while.

You know how, as a Mom, you know that the fact that they are quiet and alone for so long means that they are getting into something, but you have things to do, so you just decide not to interrupt for the time being and hope that it is nothing too terrible when you do finally find out what they were doing.

Well, eventually I heard her calling me.

She was in her room. I walked in and there was this distinct smell. Kind of menthol-y and maybe fruit of some sort?  Like cherry?

But it was strong. I said “Nikki, what is that smell?”

After a little bit she either pointed or told me what it was.

Turns out, she was “bathing” her Polly Pockets with Cherry Chapstick.

I thought it was so cute and creative and imaginative that I wasn’t even one bit upset.

I sat down on the floor with her and I said “So, did your Polly Pockets like their bath?” and she said “Oh, yes. It made them SO happy!”

As you can see, they now have chapstick in all their cracks and crevices and unmentionable places.

She also got a few different spots like this on the floor, which I later had her try to clean up as best she could with a wet cloth.

A bath with chapstick? Who would have thought?

Maybe I should try that someday!

  • Oh my! The tick … I would / could NEVER tell someone I didn’t know that they have a tick on them! Run out of DQ screaming like a little girl … yes, that would be me. I mainly couldn’t tell them because what if they would say something like, oh can you please get it off for me ( I also have this problems … Merv calls it my tick voice…). Makes me feel all squeeky and scared! Now if someone had a booger hanging from their nose … stranger or not, I tell them … unless it looks like they are on the most wanted list! =)I was going to comment on the kids hitting and chaos you wrote of … but I have a soilder here crying and I am standing in the war zone … toodles~

  • Well, she definitely got creative, didn’t she? You responded way better than I would have!

  • It does take a second breath sometimes to respond in a kindly manner to our little ones, esp. when it entails a clean up job and you’re busy. You did good!! Well, even if you told somebody they have a tick on them and they ask you to remove it, there wouldn’t be anything wrong with asking them to please ask somebody else to do it.

  • the tick scenario- gross.gross.gross. what did you do?i bet when you discovered nikki’s chapstick bathing house, she felt like xander did late last night. everyone was asleep (i thought) and i heard this furtive rustling noise. xander was sneaking down the dark steps. “what’s up, buddy?” “i am scared in my bed.” p…a…u…s…e while i think….and then i said, “okay. come here.” and lifted him up on my (barely there) lap, and he surfed the web with me. after awhile he said in his wondering little voice, ” i thought you would talk so mean to me and say GO BACK TO BED, but you didn’t!”

  • Great moments to ponder….and the cherry chapstick bath…hmmmm….think I have a few more cracks and “ripples” that it could get stuck in…LOL.

  • Cherry Chapstick!  Who would have thought!!  I bet they smell yummy! And I am so excited I won!!!  who would have thought!!!

  • I would tell the person about the tick either if I knew them or not.  I don’t think I would find that odd about a Dad and daughter.  Some families are touchy feely type of people.  It’s not for me though.    Nope – never the waddle waddlle song but I do get the “fruit salad’ by the wiggles stuck in my head.   Speed up moments:  Last week when we went grociery shopping with two two year olds.

  • answers from me….I’m the same way when it comes to exercise video and trying to follow them…in fact I’m kinda that way with even real people if it’s complicated :/I don’t really think it’s odd for girls to hold their dad’s hand at least not at 11.  I know one girl whose love language is physical touch and even at 21 (not married yet) she’ll hold her dads hand sometimes.  Though that might sound a bit odd, she really means nothing by it. that’s too funny about the chapstick bath….must have needed some moisturizing :)

  • The tick …. what DID you do?  Your random questions crack me up and definitely make me feel more normal. :)

  • i don’t know about exercise video confusion. i think that would require my own observation and participation in such. not something that i’ve tried yet.   i agree with michelle, ^^^ your random questions made me laugh and feel normal too! btw aren’t *blush*chuckle* ”cracks and crevices and unmentionable places” all the same thing? like… a bit redundant?

  • good questions. the tick one i’d have to say that i’d desperately want to tell them, but it makes me queezy so i’m not sure i could, but then what if it made them queezy and they freaked out…oh i’m just getting ill thinking about it.love the imaginative nature of your daughter ;)

  • Your questions made me laugh although I was a little leery of the shoulder massage.  I think I would have to see it.  Hey at least her dolls will not have dry skin with all that moisture. :)

  • Fun questions. I’m a “no nonsense” type of person enough that if I saw a tick on someone, I would most certainly tell them and probably remove it if they asked me to. I’d sure what someone to do the same if it was me!  When I exercise, I don’t care that much if the leg is right or not. As long as I’m burning calories, who cares?  I do usually follow according to how it looks to me ~ their left leg would be my right leg, etc. but if I get mixed up, no big deal.
